Wow, so it's been almost a month. My silence has been two-fold - there has been a lot of busy-ness here at home, and there just hasn't been a ton to talk about on the girl front. But it's about to get busy for them too. So, my apologies for this being short, especially because this is National Novel Writing Month and National Blog Posting Month, but unfortunately this also coincides with my busiest personal month of all, so it's a bit difficult to keep my head above water and manage both worlds. Consider this my place holder until Thanksgiving is over - then I'm sure I'll be back with a better update.
Brenna will be home in 9 days for a week-long visit. She is very excited about this, of course. We are too - this is the first time since Mother's Day that she will be home, so we're all looking forward to it. Of course, just prior to a home pass visit, Brenna has to have a meltdown, which she did this week. She threatened to kill her roommate, so that was a bit of an issue. Thankfully, it won't affect her home pass, but it does affect her time while she's there.
For Ailish, she just enjoyed a great weekend with Grammapoppa, which is good, because she'll have a much shorter visit here. Her facility only approved a four-day homepass for Thanksgiving, which sounds like a lot, but when you factor in that it takes a day to get here and a day to get back, it's really not much. At first, they only approved a three day pass, but we begged for one more day, just to get us past the worst of the travel days, and to possibly have one more day with her. Eventually we were given approval. These are the things that bother me the most - these are my girls, I shouldn't have to ask for approval for these kinds of things, and yet they are out of my control. It does bother me - a lot.
For Kieran, though her arm is healed, she has encountered her first illness of the season, and that has been disheartening. We couldn't have expected no illness - she still has an immune deficiency - but we were hoping to escape the worst of it. But, she's down pretty far with this cough, and it's been a struggle. It's extra difficult because the one meet where she was healthy, I was working a different meet than the one she was swimming, and we were both miserable being apart. I am hoping that she will be feeling much better by Friday - fingers crossed.
For me, it has been a very busy few weeks - I've had meets, created a scrapbook for a client, got some shots in my knees to help my running progress, and tried my best this weekend to prepare the house for the arrival of both girls back into the fold. It's definitely been a whirlwind lately.
I'm sure I will have a lot more, both pictures and words, to report after Thanksgiving, but for now, this is my humble update. Another swim meet on the horizon, and just a day after that, they'll be home, so it will be a very busy week!
Gratitude:
1. That my Bears won today, and my dear friend Chrisa helped me find a way to watch it. That I was able to witness Devin Hester's record breaking run - that was spectacular!
2. That my knees (and foot) were strong enough to run 6.3 miles today - it was a good run. More details here
3. That all five of us will be together again in nine days. It may be too brief, but it will be worth it.
4. That the Dodgers are for sale, which means I will be able to officially be a Dodger fan again.
5. My friends, of course. They mean the world to me.
